I've got really nice email from my dad with lots of hot news that I wanna share:

Tuli se po sestinedelním(!!!) prenásení stala matkou! Klisnicka je zdravá, pekná, velká, svetlá po tatínkovi a legracní. Maminku má vzornou. Pul druhýho mesíce si z nás delala srandu, pak jsme konecne odjeli do Hrdejc ( mamka v porádku ), a ona 15.5.2005 povila..."

For those of you who are not that much familiar with Czech language:

-our horse is not pregnant anymore

-my dad started to play soccer again and apparently (according to all the injuries he's suffered) he's enjoying it

-all grandmothers are doing well

-Katerina got a new (probably quite large) tatoo

-Karolina plays the flute and learns to bike (also lots of injuries involved)

-all the other siblings are doing well

It's feels good to know that things backhome ( http://www.borotin.cz ) are goin' all right.

So here are some 'news' from me to you:

Tady se nic moc noveho nedeje. Pomalu zabihame do novych poskolnich kolejich a zaciname si zvykat na nove tempo, obcasne bourky a blizici se letni vedra. Dneska jsem svou letni pripravu dokonce ozkousela sukni (Kato- takova ta cerna s ruzovym prouzkem po tobe), abych se dusevne pripravila na postupne nutne poodhalovani sveho syrateho tela :). Za chvili tady budou ctyricitky a pri devadesati procentni vlhosti to nejni zadna legrace!!

V praci jde vse v poho -pekne, tiche, nestresove. Na vstavani (v osm) jsem si uz taky celkem zvykla, takze jsem byla pochvalena, ze vubec nechodim pozde (tati).

Minuly vikend jsem byla s Molly a Ashley na koncerte Red Elvises v mistnim klubu Knickerbockers. Jsou to ctyri chlapci ve strednich (pozdne strednich) letech -Amik, Rus, Ukrajinec a Kazach. Mno a hrajou jakoze takovej legracni pop-rock. Takovej slabej odvar Leningradskejch kovboju. Opakovane bych na ne asi nesla, ale poprve a pro jednou to byla zabava.

Tenhle vikend se kona myslim nejaka b-day party u Nemcu a v nedeli asi vecere u nas na baraku a nebo u B. a R. Predbezne planujeme taky nejaky vylety na dalsi tydny - o Memorial Day asi do South Dakoty (na ty slavny kamenny prezidenty, nejaky black hills a snad nejaky jeskyne ci co) a o Independence Day nejspis do Chicaga.

Takze spatne se rozhodne nemam a nudou zatim taky neumiram.

STAR WARS : Episode III

"Revenge of the Sith" begins in theaters today, May 19, 2005 to eager anticipation as the final theatrical Star Wars chapter begins....so say the official Star Wars pages ( http://www.starwars.com ).
It may sound weird -who is eager to see what we all already know? The Episode IV was released almost thirty years ago and what we haven't figured out from the five other movies, we've found out recently in the previews and commercials on TV. Some of the commercials (like the M&M's or Burger King) were actually really fun. I'm afraid that they could possibly be more entertaining than the movie itself. Honestly, the last two (meaning the first two) episodes sucked. But I still have a little hope for G. Lucas -hopefully, the cycle will come to an end (meaning to a middle) with at least some of the grandeur of its early episodes.
Anyway, I hear that starwarsfans have been lined up in front of the movie theatres for days and nights to get a ticket for today's midnight screening. As I walked from the Mill a few minutes ago, I passed the Grand Douglas Theatre. And I counted them (yes, they also infiltrated Lincoln, NE) - 36 hard-core fans. Thirty six. I almost wanted to tell them :"You know the story, guys. Anakim Skywlaker becomes the Darth Vader, the Empire strikes back, Jedi returns..." but I didn't.
I'll wait till the movie gets to the Starship cinema and then for $2 I'll see myself how the story 'ends.'

ICE-HOCKEY

the czech team won against canada in the world-championship finals yesterday night
we are the champions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MAY 12th
only very few people in nebraska do care for ice-hockey....so not suprisingly, nobody has mentioned that the czech team has beaten the american team 3:2 (http://hokej.idnes.cz/hokej_ms2005.asp?r=hokej_ms2005&c=A050512_144859_hokej_ms2005_cig ) in the quarterfinals of the world championship!!! it is a real shame -'we' (like all czechs were playing for the national team every time they, the players, win) are in the semifinals and until today i had no idea that the championship was taking place. what i know is that there were several tornado warnings last night and few storm warnings today; i know that tom cruise is dating again; and i also know that i don't want to change into a "typical" midwestern person who cares only about weather and football (meaning the american football, not soccer)
so, CESI DO TOHO! RUCINSKY NA HRAD!

Summer festivals

CZ is the best place to be in summer if you like music, people, and fun. there are some many open air festivals taking place in the czech republic every summer that it is impossible to decide, which to attend and which to let go.
the big traditional ones like cesky brod ( http://www.rockforpeople.cz ), sazava ( http://www.sazavafest.cz ) or trutnov ( http://trutnov.openair.cz ) are kinda too much for me. i won't be able to make it to susice ( http://freedom.cz/sumavarocks/ ) this year as i will be still here in lincoln. BUT, the one festival that i hopefully won't miss (august 12 and 13) and that you guys, who plan to come to the Cz.R./south bohemia/tabor, shouldn't miss either, is the loveplanet festival (the web page http://www.loveplanet.cz is under construction, check http://www.novinky.cz/05/62/55.html for info in czechlanguage :) ) in my sweet hometown ( http://www.tabor.cz ).
the same event was organized on the field (actually a small local airport) 15 minutes from the historical center two years ago and brought great performances by asian dub foundation, chumbawamba, marylin manson and others. this year for approx. $40, the program sounds as much fun - some of the best bands of local czech scene, stars like stereo mc's (hurray!!!), nick cave and the bad seeds, sugarhill gang, or apocalyptica, worshops, shops, students' movies, hip hop tent (czech hip hop is so much fun), theater, dance scene...
if the weather doesn't suck we shall have a great time. so, please come to my hometown, be my guest, have fun, and enjoy the summer

2nd semester is over and the final grades have been posted

...bez prace nejsou kolace, aneb jak clovek v americe k dobrym znamkam prisel....
americky skolsky system je ponekud jiny nez nas. v hodinach se porad mluvi, debatuje a diskutuje, ale bohuzel take casto plka. nad nekterymi vyroky ci otazkamami mych spoluzaku mi zustaval rozum stat. PONAUCENI -neni pravda, ze hloupa otazka neexistuje. slysela jsem jich za ten rok nekolik a par pomerne pikantnich.
pokud pisete test tak vam 14x dopredu opakuji kde a v kolik hodin mate byt a pak vam to este poslou emajlem. daji vam study guide, kde se zpravidla vyskytuje vetsina testovych otazek, popripade si na vas pripravi pouze multiple choice. tento zpusob vyuky zda se byti na prvni pohled ponekud benevoletnim.
v mem pripade vede k pomerne uspokojivym znamkam

nemuzu rict, ze bych se doma ( http://kpes.upol.cz ) poslouchanim vycerpavajicich referatu a biflovanim dat, jmen a udaju naucila vic nez tady ( http://www.unl.edu ) pomoci reaction paperu, eseju, diskuzi a prednasek.

Tabor news

Guten Morgen,
napsala mi evicka posledni zhavy drby z tabora - otevreli novou galerii, simka je doma z holandu, eva s pepou v poradku, ed norton ( http://www.edward-norton.org ) nejni takovej fesak jak jsme si myslely....cituji: "volala bara rataju, ze je v havane ( http://www.kafehavana.cz ) edward norton (on v taborskym divadle natacel nejaky historicky film), tak jsme se sly na nej podivat ...mam na uctence nejaky bezvyznamny klikyhak. potkala jsem simku s editou, tak jsem vzala podpisy i pro ne. no jemu to teda moc nesluselo,ma bradku a trochu delsi vlasy do toho filmu, ale byl tam s nejakym cernochem- pry fotograf a ten byl moc charismatickej a peknej, ale uplne neznamej...."
